Announcing a 7-week Fundamentals Class
in
Re-evaluation Counseling
"I'm out - but my mind is still in prison..."
Most of us, system-impacted or not, have some part of our mind "in prison". Most of us have
places in our minds where we get locked into rigid ways of seeing/behaving/feeling that don't
really serve our best interest nor reflect our finest humanity. And it can be hard to get out.
This comes from how we have been hurt, and it has been with us for a long time. It's been a
long sentence.
But it's not permanent. It's possible to free your mind, and Re-evaluation Counseling (RC)
offers a tool and a path towards that freedom.
It begins with creating a safe space for people to listen to each other with acceptance and
compassion. Without judgment, criticism, or advice-giving. A place where we get to tell our
stories openly and honestly. Not just the polite, sanitized, numb versions we are used to
reciting but the raw, open-hearted versions that live deep within us.
When we tell our stories in this way, powerful things can happen. All kinds of emotion may
rise up. In the practice of RC, we welcome and encourage this. Actually feeling (not just
intellectualizing/analyzing) is at the heart of healing and moving us towards freedom. We can
work together to make it safe and possible for each other to do this.
This work takes courage. It takes commitment. The benefits are many: a clearer mind, a
quieter heart, a better relationship with yourself. Better decision-making, more relaxed
enjoyment of life, and freedom from ghosts of the past.
For those interested in learning RC, a weekly class is being offered free of charge by Dan
Kwong, a certified teacher of Re-evaluation Counseling for over four decades.
Come to an intro meeting to hear more about RC, meet Dan, and get info on the class!
